Review of The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) by Alison M — 22 Jan 2008
If I could use one word to describe this movie, it would be "moody." Maybe the moodiest thing I've ever seen, amplified by welles' haunting narration, bernard herrmann's uncredited and somewhat eerie score, and the foreboding and edgy performances of the cast.
I need to re-watch citizen kane, because I had forgotten Agnes Moorehad could knock me off her feet with her acting. atmospheric and incredible.
