Review of The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) by James H — 02 Sep 2009
Well, I'm typing this in between packing sessions.
I just wanted to say goodbye before I go off to college. It is not really goodbye at all, seeing as how I'm going to have the internet at school and it will likely not even affect my posting duties (yes, they are duties to me).
This is just such a big change for me. Big changes have never really occurred often in my life. It makes me wonder how I will handle the transition.
On the more symbolic front, I've noticed that I am only 10 posts away from 5,000. A new beginning, huh? I think so.
I got so much stuff today (even though I had been sporadically shopping all summer for college). My mother told me that she is never buying me anything due to the amount of shit I got today. I also picked up Bukowski's 'Ham on Rye'. I don't know how much time I'll have to read it though. My brother got me 'The Graduate' on DVD. How apt. My friend got me an awesome book of quotes ('Highlighted in Yellow') that I'm sure will come in handy.
I said goodbye to a bunch of my friends today. One of my best friends called this 'The End of an Era' and it got me down. I like to think of these things after a new era begins. I feel like I'm in a void today. I saw some friends I haven't talked to in a couple of months and it was really nice. Even some neighbors expressed how much they were going to miss me. It was such a nice way to leave. One of my best friends called this 'The End of an Era' and it got me down. I like to think of these things after a new era begins. I feel like I'm in a void today.
Ok, I'm not dying here. I need to stop being so dramatic.
What aspect of college am I most nervous about? No doubt, the social life.
::bites fingers::
And of course, please leave kind words of encouragement so I don't breakdown when I get there.
Back to packing...
