Review of The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) by Kenneth R — 26 Sep 2011
The cut which has survived has a plethora of problems (the least of which comes from the editing--most notable in the ending and how dragged out the first act is), but there's still an at-least solid foundation at work here.
It's tough to get behind the characters (at first), but it's easy to become entranced by so many amazing shots, which help ease the aforementioned challenge. Worth watching simply to see one of the original directorial masters at his prime.
