Review of The Magic Flute (2006) by Ibraheem M — 26 Jul 2012
I liked the idea of setting the opera during WWI. Unfortunately, it was muddled by some corny elements in the acting, visual effects, and directing, losing a sense of sincere reverence for the original work by Mozart.
Disappointing as that might be, there was a handful of beautiful imagery that was stunning and thought provoking during this film. My two favorite sequences would be the meeting of Tamino and Pamina in the trenches and the Papageno and Papagena song.
