Review of The Mack (1973) by Matthew C — 05 Feb 2010
A solid, if just another, Rise Fall Redemption narrative about Goldie the petty theft turned Super Pimp that drags in the middle and has a fantastic climax. Richard Pryor pops every now and again with a small role as Max Julianâ??s â??accordionâ?? playing, puppy dog follower.
The corrupt cops are fantastic, especially Dick Gordonâ??s chubby chaser. Still, these type of pimp heroes are not as interesting to me as badasses like Slaughter, Coffy, or Black Belt Jones. VF.
