We are presented with a world in which EVERYONE is African American, and the only white people are racists, criminals, and corrupt cops. The protagonist Goldie, after getting out of prison, is advised to become a pimp by some random blind guy in a pool hall. Sure enough, the first person he runs into after this meeting is an old friend that just happens to need a pimp to "take care of her". His employee roster steadily grows, and as the film progresses we are treated to such classic scenes as Goldie's hypnotizing of his prostitutes at a planetarium sky show, the player's picnic, and of course the player's ball (a gala event). Despite achieving pimping success, Goldie tragically finds that mackin' only leads to violence and moral/spiritual turmoil.

Our hero is totally baked for the duration of the picture, and can barely muster any sort of non-glazed facial expression. Everyone else in the film seems to desperately overact to get any sort of response out of Max Julien's "Goldie". The pace and editing totally butcher what little narrative cohesiveness this thing had to begin with, and the ridiculous dialogue and situational humor make the film that much more hilarious. The music is also cheesy as hell.

The Mack is by a wide margin the weirdest, most ridiculous movie I've seen in years (in a good way). Pimpin' ain't easy, but enjoying this movie sure is. Highly Recommended!
