Review of The Machinist (2004) by Vulcan S — 31 Oct 2011
A little Secret Window. A little Memento. Throw in some of that Spanish horror film suspense a la The Orphanage, Pan's Labyrinth, and Talk to Her. Add a committed actor with range and what do you get? A great fracking film.
The Machinist delivers a dark fable about the human condition and the moral compass that guides most of us. As the story develops we begin to sense where it is going, but we stay along for the ride. Never boring, waiting for the development of every scene, the significance of every clue, etc.
Watch it.
