Review of The Machinist (2004) by Matt M — 07 Jun 2013
An anorexic and insomnic factory machinist starts to get paranoid when cryptic messages appear in his house and a ghostly appearance follows him wherever he goes. Christian Bale offers one of the most sacrificial performances ever as he portrays the lead character skinny to the bone.
Lots of cold lighting and a hypnotic pace helps make this film a dark and intriguing mystery, though eventually it starts to show a little indulgence in its overstretched length.
