Review of The Lovers (2017) by Margie C — 28 May 2017
Disappointing to say the least. Both leads over emoted throughout and struggled with unlikable characters and cinematography apparently based on a local dinner theatre aesthetic. The predictable conclusion with the alienated son was worse than I even expected. The son's character was awful and the acting particularly dreadful.
The inexplicably intrusive and obnoxious soundtrack provided whimsy where none was needed. It appears the director was trying for Shakespeare in the park and instead gave us an amateurish drama with no likable characters.
