Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Dc E — 07 Feb 2012
Thankfully, they didn't change TOO much when making this book into a movie. Some parts that they omitted were parts of the book that I actually hated so I was pleasantly surprised there. Heh.
Anyway, this adaptation was really well done and I enjoyed it. It did a great job of making you actually care about Susie Salmon and her family and despise her killer.
My lone complaint is that they didn't get into her heaven as much as they did in the book. I understand that they can only put so much into a movie when they put it on the big screen, but this aspect of the book seemed too important to downplay. Yeah, there are plenty of scenes of her in "the other world", but they didn't explain or show heaven with quite as much detail as they do in the novel version.
Either way, good job. I liked it despite going in dubious. :P.
