Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Justin T — 26 Jul 2012
Really disappointing for me. I was anticipating a thoroughly depressing film, like something like Mystic River. Well it's part Mystic River and part Inception/Alan Wake. Really the murder mystery part was fine, but it was intermingled with all this lighthearted spiritual stuff which I thought brought the film down.
We should all be feeling sad like the parents but the girl seems to be happy seeing them move on and forget her. It's too bad because the acting is good. Just the story/presentation is messed up. Also, wasn't a fan of the heavy use of CG.
