Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Jeremiah T — 08 Nov 2012
What a dissaplointment. Though the visuals at times are impressive, the storyline is hollow, doing a real disservice to the book. Mark Wahlberg literally drives this story into the ground with his wooden portrayal of a father with a murdered daughter.
Although due credit must be given to badly written dialogue and a somber, omnious, and dragging muscial score that seems to further hurt the pace of the film. The biggest problem- the movie doens't know what it wants to say.
Death is inevitable? The afterlife isn't what we thought? Justice is served? Who knows? All these concepts are touched on- sort of- but never concluded or brought together in any concrete way.
