Yes, The Lost World is nowhere near as great and groundbreaking as the original film was. There are several ridiculous scenes, one in which has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on screen.
However, The Lost World is NOT a bad movie, it's fairly good depending on how you look at it. To me, it brought a different, much darker tone than the original film, a very complex and layered plot, and scary, intriguing action sequences.
