Dark and girtty...very contraversial in it's time bc of the portayal of the gripping realities of alcoholism. Ray Milland gave a superior performance as the out of control alchoholic on a weekend bender.
Definitely worthy of it's best picture oscar, and it's in my top 10 movies of all time.
