Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by Ricardo V — 14 Aug 2007
A bleek depiction of alcohol dependency and it's shocking to know that this film came in the 1940 era in which much of hollywood came under the vice grip of the production code in which nearly nothing could be shown in a graphic way to audiences.
ray milland does a spectacular job as a down and out drunky who is surrounded by people who want to help him but cannot, the addiction has crawled too far under his skin, has created a world of dependency.
a great film by billy wilder, which shouldn't come as a surprise by now.
