Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by Lief T — 27 Dec 2008
This movie was so far ahead of its time that it's difficult to describe. While it deserves credit as being one of the first movies to tackle the problem of addiction head on, it really deserves credit for being arguably the best film ever on the subject.
Simply riveting and heart-wrenching from start to finish, with an ending that doesn't come across as hackneyed or unrealistic, as you might expect from a 50s movie. Just awesome.
