Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by Benjamin W — 21 Sep 2010
Not all alcoholics are lovable lushes. One wonders if the "after school special" got started with this movie's influence. Mild by today's standards, but definitely shocking in 1945. I commend this film for having the appropriate use of a theremin as well as some brilliant cinematography.
Even I had my doubts that the plot would have a happy ending, which just goes to show the power of the acting.
