Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by James M — 01 Jul 2006
"One is too many and a hundred is not enough." ~Nat.
Sorry Lanning, I stole your quotation, but I thought it was brilliant. The film was absolutely fantastic and has yet to be outdated. Every moment rang true. The writing was beautiful and Wilder's directing (as always) moved the picture to perfection. And the film would have been nothing without the Oscar-deserving (and winning) performance by Ray Milland. He was absolutely convincing. Jane Wyman was also terrific as the girlfriend who wouldn't give up. The film was tragic and spectacular. It could not have been better!
