Review of The Lost City of Z (2017) by Gelinda A — 31 May 2017
Based on a true story, the film served as documentation of a man's dream to surpass his ancestry and current rank. During a sponsored expedition to survey and map the jungles of Bolivia, Percy Fawcett discovered so much about himself and the native peoples of Bolivia. He stumbled upon a truth that those which he learnt to be Savage were advanced beyond his imaginings. His quest to prove to the civilized peoples of England that they were not the first would, from that time, consume his and his family's lives.
The story inflicted feelings of hope, love, sadness, insanity, despair and faith. I was thoroughly impressed by Robert Pattison's betrayal of Henry Costin. His expression of anguish, starvation and loyalty were genuine and convincing. The cast overall provided an outstanding performance.
