Review of The Lost City of Z (2017) by Marla F — 20 Apr 2017
This. Movie. Was. So. Slow. I. Wanted. To. Die. By. The. End. Poor editing. Every single scene was excruciatingly overlong. They. Even. Talked. Slowly. People don't talk like that. I have patience for slow dramas but not self indulgent ones.
They spent a ton of money on this elaborate costume drama and much of it was wasted. Like, overlong scenes in the beginning and during the war that do nothing to advance the plot. I'm interested in architecture and archeology and the Amazon and I got surprisingly little of that during this too long movie.
Also it was shot in these deliberately dark tones that only added to the monotony. I would have walked out except I did want to know what happened.
