Review of The Lost City of Z (2017) by Farah R — 16 Jul 2017
Charlie Hunnam's admirable performance as disturbed explorer Percy Fawcett is the only beacon of light in this bleak, gloomy true-life drama. Despite being visually beautiful and possessing a mesmerizing score, the script is outrageously silly and the pace is worse than a Peter Jackson film.
There's too much jungle and Indians and not enough focus on the life of a man consumed by a terrible yearning for the discovery of the unknown. The Lost City Of Z is ambitious but unfortunately fails to achieve its objective of becoming a historical epic among Hollywood's greatest motion pictures.
