Review of The Lost Boys (1987) by Ian B — 19 Nov 2011
One of my favorite films to watch growing up in the 80's. The script is fairly basic and a lot of it doesn't really make sense, but the terrific cast and direction more than make up for it. I recently re-watched this on DVD and was surprised I'd never realized what a fantastic looking film this is.
The lighting, camera work and editing are some of the best I've seen in the horror genre. Yes, it's hilariously dated and, as I said before, the script is pretty weak, but everyone looks like they're having so much fun in this movie! Kiefer kicks ass as the head vamp, the Frog brothers steal every scene they're in, and the movie moves along at a great pace.
Definitely worth another look if you haven't seen it in a while.
