Review of The Lords of Salem (2013) by Jim P — 13 Oct 2013
This movie will find its following. It may take time, but it will. It shows how much Rob has grown. If you are really watching - you'll catch the tons of homages to all the great directors.
Seems Rob was paying lots of attention when he watched movies - and it seems he is putting everyone on notice that he is fully capable of creating/capturing those cool cinematic nuances as well as the "in-your-face" shock moments.
Stunning visuals a la Kubrick, cool overhead crane shots of complex scenes below (a la Scorsese, the far shot of the impending crisis (De Palma)...watch the flick again without your perjudice and see how well this is shot.
Disclosure: Yeah, its a bit disjointed. The story could have been laid out more eloquently for the masses to follow - but I think this movie was more to let us know what Mr Zombie has in store for us during his next "at bat". I'll be watching.
