Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) by James P — 20 Sep 2015
The middle installment of a trilogy is often the darkest, and the Two Towers is no exception; unlike other modern drivel, the film has a happy ending without devolving into the cheesy depths of "feel good," or descending into post-modern despair and hopelessness.
The characters are rich, and their suffering is real - especially to America, a country that had recently lost the Twin Towers to demonic terrorists. Wholly unintentional, the timing of this movie, its title, content, sorrow, and hope, resonated with a country reeling from tragedy.
