Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) by Brendan N — 20 Oct 2018
The first scene done most of the world building, which in essence allows this film to breath. This is a rare sequel and middle film that never feels bloated or over the top, most sequels feel the need to be bigger but not the The Two Towers.
Peter Jackson never sacrifices storytelling for action or robs the film of the characters who mean so much. The film is relentless and the ensemble cast guide the story into a place that will conclude with Return of the King.
I caught the extended cut of this over the weekend and it is the cut you must experience, it has so much life. Hollywood should respect source material like this film and never hand over material to a poor filmmaker.
Peter Jackson was the right choice for this series and his vision is what keeps this film from failing. Beatuiful music and filmmaking, you could do much worse than revisiting middle earth. 21/10/2018.
