The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring started one of (if not) the best trilogies in film. A true masterpiece. It is a long runtime, yes, but the payoff is more than gratifying and the casting is perfect.
Still, the best fantasy film ever made and one of the best films in general.
