Say what you will about little people, but one thing is for certain and that is they can surely throw one hell of a birthday party. So the time has come as I review six episodic films for the next nine days. I know it seems like a bit of a squeeze, but with a little time and luck I can get through this in no time. Any who, author J.R.R. Tolkien went to his grave knowing that he written four well good fantasy books in his life. The books that I am referring to are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy which became one of the first fan bases in the 20th Century to have a huge following. It was not until long after his death that a long-time fanboy and director name Peter Jackson decided to make a film adaptation about it and the result is one to talk about for the ages. I mean sure it has been over ten years since the trilogies came out, but if you watch these films today you would realize that they are still mind blowing from the special effects to the casting. But perhaps I am getting a little ahead of myself here with this, so let's start this off right as I begin my own journey into the unknown and back again.

Where do I begin with this masterpiece? For starters, I absolutely LOVE the visualization and special effects that they put in here for this film. You watch this today and you would believe that this movie was done last year, when in fact it was over ten years ago. Peter Jackson does an astounding job adapting ninety percent of the dialogue from the book and into the movie and what's even better than the dialogue are the actors themselves. Who would have thought that a bunch of actors who played various roles from the eighties and nineties would be spot on with the iconic fantasy characters that they play that it just seems too good to be true. Also for two hours and fifty minutes worth of film it does not feel like it is drag on at all, because you are too involved with the story and the characters and before you even know it, it's all over for part one. Overall, I cannot find anything wrong with it other than a few nit-picks here and there that the film had to cut out from the book mostly because it would have gone way over the three hour mark. Which is why I HIGHLY recommend anyone out there to go see this if you haven't already and if you did, and it has been a couple of years or so, then by all mean re-watch this again.
