Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) by Kyle M — 13 Dec 2014
Ok so I wasn't really in to nor, had any knowledge of 'The Lord Of The Rings' Franchise. Until I saw the first two 'The Hobbit' movies which are prequels. So out of curiousness I bought 'The Lord Of The Rings' Trilogy for Blu-Ray.
I never seen the movies but I watch the first movie of the franchise 'The Fellowship Of The Ring' with an open mind. I got to say I enjoyed this movie as much I enjoy 'The Hobbit'. The story element of the plot and backstory is brilliant, original, and effective.
I found myself entertained by the most of the film. There were some very slow parts of the movie that bored me and made me uninterested. The use of practical effect and CGI was great collaboration in this film.
The sceneries of the movie is very beautiful and well detailed. The movie has extremely likable characters by their courage, personality, and role in the film. For that I like to credit the terrific acting from the whole cast.
The actors gave their all in emotional situations and having real chemistry throughout! I had a problem of the dialogue of the film because some parts of it was lost and confused. I blame a little bit on the writers for this flaw.
The movie has a very dark gritty feeling/tone throughout the middle and the end of the movie. Some of the choices of characters was sort of a problem for me throughout the movie. This is sometimes a case of movie when the writers never think of common sense in certain scenes of a movie.
The fights in this movie is brutal and well choreographed! But the editing of fighting scenes are sloppy and choppy. Peter Jackson did an awesome job capturing the fantasy world in the movie and capture real imagination, which is good thing for fantasy movies like these.
The score is soothing and beautifully played. And when ever it comes on in the background I always hum to it because it's that good. The sound editing of dialogue is a little weak but you'll get passed it.
But when the action scenes occur the sound is booming and has great quality. I will love to say that I can't wait to see the next movie which is 'The Two Towers' whenever get the time to. To sum it all up, 'Fellowship Of The Ring' was a pretty good film.
Not epic in my opinion but pretty close to it! I will loved to give this movie more credit but still I had some of the concerns of the movie with it's poor editing with sound and scenes. Also, I had problems with the script with character decisions and confusing dialogue.
And, the movie has some slow boring parts to it that really drags. But besides my concerns this movie is really good in my opinion and is a well made movie. So for those and my previous reasons I will give 'The Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring' an A- grading!
