Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) by Freyr H — 28 Mar 2016
To me this movie is the best movie of all time. Why you might ask. Well let me tell you why. First off it's music and score is flawless. It even won a handful of Grammys. Cinematography is also flawless. It looks absolutely stunning and gorgeous and was actually filmed and shot in New Zealand so it's not all just CGI like everything nowadays.
Acting is amazing. Okay the acting may not be Oscar worthy but it's not because the acting is bad it's because Oscar worthy acting is not required in this type of film. The plot is very interesting and original and is also not a generic, boring and lame plot like we see rehashed in all the movies nowadays. The setting is beautiful and intriguing and has its own world called Middle-Earth.
One of the best things about this movie and series is it has its own world and culture. Every character, villain, enemy, language, culture, and race has its own unique background and origin created by Tolkien in his book. For instance, Legolas and the elves have their own language and lifestyle they live by. So do the Hobbits, Men, and Dwarves. Except not all of them have their own language but they do all have their own lifestyle.
The theme is a very inspiring theme. "What is the theme" you might ask. Well it's to fight evil temptations you deal with everyday and to ultimately win the battle with temptation and to always do what is good and right even with all the evil and temptation surrounding you. Lastly, and explaining how this movie could be better than ones like Godfather or Citizen Kane is all three of those are epic, inspiring, well developed, well executed, well acted, well directed, and very popular and beloved.
But why makes Lord of the Rings better than those? Well first of all it has a better score and probably the best score of all time. Also has better cinematography and design. But it all comes down to Lord of the Rings is just as good movie and critic wise as both of those but manages to be way more entertaining. Honestly it's jut more versatile because it can be just as epic, well acted, and directed but still be one of the most entertaining movies as well.
