Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) by King L — 05 Jun 2014
This movie is the first in a series widely believed to be the best series of all time, in a statement I'd believe to be correct. The visual are vivid and precise from the first shot. The story is smartly paced, with action, mythology, dialogue and setting all flowing smoothly into a superbly watchable two hours.
The casting is magnificent, in particular Ian McKellan as Gandalf and Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. (A special mention must go to Sean Bean who brings the multi-layered personality of Boromir to the fore seamlessly.
) The groundbreaking special effects may bring Middle-Earth to life, but it is the loyal direction of Peter Jackson and the attention to source material that makes Fellowship of the Ring a modern classic.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
