Review of The Lookout (2007) by Jesse J — 24 Jun 2010
BEWARE folks! This is NOT the heist film that one expects from looking at the trailer, photo's and poster. There is a heist, but the main part of the film is about a young guy trying to reclaim some normalcy after having a life altering car crash.
It's a very engaging film that takes it's time to tell it's story despite it's fairly brief running time. Gordon-Levitt delivers a nice performance as the young man who is not the same after the car crash. Pre crash he was a popular high school hockey player and now he is left with only one real friend which is his blind roomate played by Jeff Daniels who steals more every scene he is in with his sharp humor and earnest performance.
There are some holes and things might not develop quickly as most would like, but if you stick with it I think you will find it's a very enjoyable film with good performances by all.
