The film captures the grandness if not the horror of the day a later film would have the honor of recreating that. John Wayne is always the epitome of masculinity an shines as he always does in this epic war film whose cast includes; Richard Burton, Sean Connery, Robert Mitchum, Henry Fonda, and Edmond O?Brien to name a few.
The film tackles the whole operation of D-Day from the perspective of everyone imaginable, the paratroopers, landing force, Germans, and even the underground resistance. A great epic telling of the massive operation.
