Review of The Longest Day (1962) by Doctor Faustus A — 28 Jul 2007
A war movie that gives attention to many of the nations involved in the battle. Even though it features enough stars to fill the heavens, they never threaten to overwhelm the story. Best bit: Oblivious to the threat to himself, a Frenchman living under the Nazi jackboot waves the drapeau tricolore and cheers in ecstasy as the Allied battleships commence bombardment of the Normandy coast in preparation for the invasion.
