Review of The Long Riders (1980) by Michael T — 10 Jun 2008
The Western was officially dead in 1980 when Walter Hill's superb re-enactment of the James Gang's Northfield Minnesota Raid was released. This film is very violent, John McCarty mentioned it in Splatter Movies, but it is also a brilliantly put-together piece of cinematography that works on every level.
One of my favourite Dusters and one of Hill's best pictures.
