Review of The Long Riders (1980) by Dennis M — 20 Dec 2009
This is a decent western. This is a movie about the real life outlaws the Youngers, the Jameses, the Millers, and the Fords. They got actual brothers to play the parts. David Carradine, Keith Carradine and Robert Carradine played the Younger boys.
James Keach and Stacy Keach played Frank and Jesse James. Dennis Quaid and Randy Quaid played the Miller boys. They originally wanted Jeff and Bo Bridges to play the Ford boys but were committed to other projects at the time.
So Christopher and Nicholas Guest played the Ford boys. Not sure how accurate this movie was compare to the history of these famous outlaws. But I thought it was a entertaining western. Good acting by all the actors.
Full of gunfights and the dark side of the west. The only thing I found weak was the ending. It just seemed to end in a rush and not allow for a more detailed ending. But if you enjoy westerns then give this a chance.
