Review of The Long, Hot Summer (1958) by Samantha M — 21 Jun 2007
This is the best movie ever! Paul Newman is so delicious and the heat between him and Joanne Woodward is electrifying. Orson Welles is so great too. I have so many quotes from this movie. Clara, played by Joanne Woodward, might be my all time favorite heroine.
"You've got hellfire and damnation in ya, boy- but you've got redemption too!".
I love it. Its a movie full of perfect details, southern sensibilties, great writing (Faulkner source material, and delicious characters. Interesting commentart on class, race, and gender as well.
