I'm a fan of gangster pictures, in all their sub-genre-ish-ness (YUp, made up a word).
And I kept hearing about this one.
Guy Richie and Mathew Vaughn mentioned it.
The guys who made Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 cited it.
Saw it available on Netflix.
What did I have to lose?...
Great movie.
Certain aspects were dated (shooting and production styles, not referring to the in-story setting), but I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Lock Stock or Layer Cake.
Always liked Bob Hoskins. Grew up with him, from Rodger Rabbit to the ill fated Super Mario Brothers. Then as I matured, I noticed he did a lot more than kid's movies (Pink Floyd: The Wall, Brazil, Doomsday, to name a very few..).Though I feel like this may be the best movie I've ever seen him in.
