Review of The Lone Ranger (1956) by Skyview B — 04 Sep 2014
Name: The Lone Ranger.
Director: Gore Verbinski.
Genre: Country/Western.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Background Info:
The Lone Ranger is a reboot of an old tv show called The Lone Ranger that was turned into a movie, The Legend of the Lone Ranger.
Plot Summary:
After John Reid's brother, Dan Reid was killed by a childhood friend and an outlaw by the name of Butch Cavendish, he meets a native American man named Tonto. Tonto was kicked out of his tribe by selling them out for a pocketwatch. The two of them tracked down Butch, and discovered that he was part of a group that was mining silver, and killing anyone that got in the way. Along the way they saved Dan's wife and kid and discovered that a train company's employee was mining the silver, with Butch's group helping to kill people in the way, including the entire Cheyenne tribe and Dan.
Theme: The theme of this movie is never give into greed and corruption. It is also made mainly to entertain. It teaches that no matter what, if you do something wrong or illegal, it will catch you. The theme is demonstrated by Butch and the train employee getting caught and killed.
Technical Elements: The costumes of this movie were very interesting. Tonto had a very overdone native American costume. The Lone Ranger had a perfect outlaw costume. The lighting fit the shots perfectly. Areas that should've been dark were, and light shots were lit. The music fit relatively well, and sometimes added comedy and suspense.
Conclusion: Overall, I would recommend this movie. It has the perfect blend of comedy, suspense, action, and story. The story is greatly portrayed and seems like it could be a real story. The comedy is perfect for the story and adds to the acting.
