Review of The Lone Ranger (1956) by Mark B — 19 Sep 2014
I'm pretty sure the ORIGINAL Lone Ranger was a radio show. Which puts it in the same fiction category as comic books. I found this update of the Lone Ranger legend to be marvelous. It has weak points - mostly in the script and dialogue - but overall, I was extremely impressed by the story of the movie.
As are the comic book derivative films, it is a bit "juvenile" - i.e. simplistic and moralistic, but the story carries grit. It is consistent - and it works. I had heard a lot of negative reviews - but I completely disagree.
This is a very good film. Not quite a classic - except in style. It combines nuevo "old west" realism and 1930's radio show or 1940's - 1950's comic book dialogue and makes a damn good story.
