Review of The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927) by Anthony K — 17 Nov 2013
It was ok, if I were not to give it handicaps for its age, Id' say it was pretty average but I guess a silent film needs to be judged on grounds different to that of talkies. The acting overt, the characters naïve, the plot thin & transparent.
(You knew the main suspect wasn't the killer five minutes into it if that. The ending was not much better when we never really found out who the killer actually was. I'm afraid, Hitchcock or not, silent film or not, it was pretty average.
