Review of The Lobster (2015) by Emily A — 17 Dec 2016
Beautiful score and visually appealing. It's a "clever idea" I guess, if it is meant to function as a caricature of aloneness or togetherness. All the comments about how "true" it is as a commentary on relationships is more disturbing than this film could ever be though. If you have the philosophy of a teenage emo or genuinely feel like everybody is selfish at the core and kindness/compassion does not exist then this movie is for you!
It works as a caricature. The reception behind it is just making me scared to talk to anyone ever.
