Review of The Lives of Others (2006) by Zahid H — 08 Aug 2010
Honestly, I do not know much about the historical background of this film's story. But, watching, contemplating, and the pervading sense of this movie seems far more evocative than its history. The story of a country who take a rigorous system of government and legalize the surveillance of citizens.
Yeah, at least that's what I get from this film frame. But, far seized my attention is a humanitarian drama narrated this film. An awesome sight of an officer of the German secret agent who was assigned to tap the life of lovers, but he went deeper and deeper into their lives, the more deeply was he immersed in it.
Reveals a lot of contemplation, from the disgrace of a government, to the "frightening" surveillance melodrama. The Lives of Others is an extraordinary masterpiece ever made by the German film maker.
The most deserved Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award in the year. Maybe this film will always be remembered for all time!
