Review of The Lives of Others (2006) by Marieke V — 31 Aug 2010
The movie hits you right in the heart and shows the confrontation of the horror of Stasi bureaucracy/power/madness and humanity. The bland face of Wiesler is an ideal mirror of subtlety of change.
Enjoying the movie, however, makes us conspire in the appealing voyeurism (but isn't watching movies always some kind of voyeurism?).
The regret and tears of Wiesler are felt in your own heart when watching.
