GOODBYE LENIN made 80's commie East Germany seem a bit dull, but nice enough to warrant getting nostalgic over. THE LIVES OF OTHERS however, presents a much bleaker picture - showing just how awful it was for a lot of people.
It's a subtle but compelling film.
