Great movie. Had some really interesting insights. I have no idea what movie the LA Weekly critic was watching, but it must not have been the one I was watching. There is no nostalgia about the stasi days.
Absolutely not. Instead, you got the claustrophobic atmosphere of having to watch everything you said or who you said them to. Neighbors or friends reporting on you or even your own children. It must have been a nightmare to live in those times.
And might still be in some countries. Also, the world is not black and white. We are all human beings. Can't you imagine there would have been at least one sympathetic stasi? I have to totally agree with Tony B.
The more I think about the movie, the better it is.
