Review of The Little Prince (2015) by Calvin C — 06 Aug 2016
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's classic French novella is a mix of computer animation and stop motion. The movie is not a literal adaptation, but it is as faithful as it can be. The movie creates an original story within the story about a girl who meets an old aviator who tells her the story about "The Little Prince". While purest would question this narrative choice, I thought it expanded the story and made the novel have more meaning. The end result is a whimsical fantasy reminiscent of Pixar's Up. The voice work led by Jeff Bridges, Paul Rudd, Rachel McAdams, James Franco, and Mackenzie Foy are all wonderful. This new spin on a classic tale will no doubt introduce new fans and have old fans falling in love with the novel all over again.
