Review of White Fang 2: Myth of the White Wolf (1994) by Frances H — 26 Apr 2012
I didn't like White Fang 2. I had never seen it before and having just watched it, I feel ripped off. The first movie had a rough-around-the-edges sort of aesthetic to it which lent itself to the period brilliantly.
It was harsh and cold... it depicted the Yukon territory as the savage and treacherous frontier that it was. Wild Fang 2 is glossy and convoluted. It's got that "Disney" sheen all over it and looks like a TV movie of the week.
The story is cliched and hokey and the acting is really ordinary. The only kudos I can give it is that Ethan Hawke cameos at the start to hand the reins over... I didn't expect that and thought they'd just simply write his character off or replace him.
I assume he had two scripts in front of him and the other was Reality Bites. He chose wisely!
