Review of The Little Mermaid (2023) by Danielbasado87 — 26 May 2023
Why are all these Disney's live actions necessary in the first place? We already have the classics. These new remakes are not helping or getting things any better for the company. The Little Mermaid (2023) is absolutely unnecessary, soulless, hollow and colorless.
Halle Bailey's acting was not bad, but definetely feels forced, overacted and too theatrical most times. Ursula doesn't feel like Ursula. The GCI sometimes looks fair, but most times look terrible. The new songs don't seem to fit in the whole film concept.
And of course, not to mention the feminist agenda behind this product, which is really pathetic considering this was a movie that was supposed to be made for kids. Sorry, but I consider this movie a flop.
It's not the Little Mermaid and definetely not Ariel.
