Review of The Little Mermaid (2023) by Norixis — 29 May 2023

Overall, I was more sad about how much this disappointed my wife more than anything. This movie was just bad, on every level. My wife is a huge, life long fan of the little mermaid. To the point that she has a tattoo of the original.

She wanted to walk out of the movie less than half way through. She (and I) were disappointed by the story changes, the unnecessary changes to songs/new songs, the CGI, the acting and more. The CGI was bland, the acting stiff and lifeless, they destroyed the supporting characters, they changed Ariel from a young woman who was curious and excited about the world outside, but was taken advantage of and needed to overcome the unknown to now being a girl boss who doesn't need any help, knows how to do anything/everything, and has an "I'm better than you" attitude.
