Well, well well, Disney you did it you actually made a movie that is GOOD, Sike NO, this film at times is the darkest and dullest Disney Film I have ever seen, I literally could not see anything that was on screen properly.

Due to Normal Cinemas Dimming the projections and the dark Underwater scenes.

That doesn't mean I didn't notice the CGI. If you thought you'd get away with piss-poor CGI under the dark water, think again.

It seems with each iteration of Disney Live Action films it gets worse.

If you are going to take your family out to a film like this with your hard-earned money, think again, watch anything else.

I guess families already went in and came out with their Kids enjoying it somehow. Why?

It's a simple fact that Kids are entertained by anything these days, give a kid some Sand and they will enjoy it, so putting an annoying bird to do a song would be funny to Kids for sure.

To Adults though, your ears will feel like they are bleeding.

You might say but Ariel is Black, oh, sorry of African descent now, that's literally me. If you were a writer and you created a character to meet an idea you had, let's say the character is of African descent.

Would it be good for me to say "Nope this character is Indian now"?

No, I don't think so.

So can someone tell me why out of all the multiple realities did it have to be this one where Disney decides,.

"You know what, Ariel needs to be "Better".

Now let's say Ariel was just like the source, does that redeem the film?

HELL NO, Like I mentioned before the Film is Dark, dull, and even boring at times with filler sections which all contribute to the reality filter they cascaded over the film.

- The acting in most cases is Standard.

- Details from the original are left out, for some reason.

- Do you understand why "The Under The Sea Song" was so popular in the first place, clearly Disney doesn't.

- Unnecessary inclusion, changes of importance and plot.

What's wrong Disney you afraid of saying that Ariel should use her feminine body to attract Eric, you don't like weddings?

Disney you know why it's called a Remake, you know why Remakes exist?

So you can take the Source material, UNCHANGED and improve it.

You took pieces of the source, added some different and inconsequential scenes, extended it and hoped that the budget of the film would save it.

One more time, Disney. ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS TAKE THE SOURCE AND MAKE IT BETTER, THAT'S IT. Is that so hard?

Any YouTuber with a budget can make a film 2x as better as the source. Baffling.

Anyway,.

I shall rate thee accordingly.

VFX and CGI: 4/10, So sorry you had to deal with this VFX team, you had to deal with the Directors and Disneys' "Vision".

Story and Plot: 3/10, Source turns into tartar source.

Dialogue and Writting: 5/10, This film tries something, I don't know what it was but it tried.

Pacing: 3/10, Excessively painful to watch, Why is this 2 hours? Ever heard of Short and Sweet? The original was 1h what happened here?

Characters: 4/10, No offence to Awkwafina(I like you) but you were funny in this, The other cast is why I give a 4.

So Shall I give you a 3 or a 4 Disney? Hmm? A 4/10, I try to give a movie a justified rating, this is better than Peter Pan And Wendy, but that doesn't say much, This film Tries to make Ariel a strong, bold, female character that needs no man. It misses the mark for me and most likely the majority of Disney Fans. While scenes and the story in the film do match the original animation it still lacks details. At parts of this film, it is just too dark just like a DC film which does not help it at all. And Finally a quick word to Halle Bailey(like she'll ever read this), *Clears Throat, you are not good at acting, for this role you try to act all cutesy and intelligent, but that is not Ariel, Ariel is Courageous, loving, curious, spontaneous and naive you try so hard to isolate her personality into a single performance but it falls flat at least for me. eg. Remember when singing Part of their World, when Ariel forgets the name of the items like "feet" you are not meant to sing that line. Why do you think that needs to happen hmm? It shows the separation of Ariels' world and the Human World. I'm always looking for something fresh, New, Unique, and Inspiring. This film doesn't meet its own requirements enough to get a passing grade from me, instead, it leaves itself with Holes. Alright, my childhood is once more smashed to paste by the Disney Empire Scum. Now Disney the next film is, I'm guessing Snow White, right? Ok, I'll be here waiting, until then just remember "Skin as White as Snow". Just a Quick Edit here, I was going to give this film a 3/10 but I changed my mind because of fairness, a 4/10 for me is still a bad film to me(It is top-of-the-barrel bad). But If after I let this sink in and I want to change my mind then You bet I'll be back to change it to 3.
